2. Overview

You can read CarefreeCredits.com without creating an account or telling us who you are. We process personal data only to the extent necessary to provide a secure and working website and, if you consent, for statistics, advertising and embedded media. The legal bases we rely on are:

  • Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR and § 25(1) TDDDG: your consent, for optional cookies and similar technologies;
  • Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR: our legitimate interest in operating a secure, stable and efficient website;
  • § 25(2) no. 2 TDDDG: storing information on your device that is strictly necessary for the service you requested (e.g. your privacy choice).

3. Hosting and server log files

This website is hosted by an external web hosting provider that processes data on our behalf under a data processing agreement (Art. 28 GDPR). When you visit the site, your browser automatically sends information that is stored temporarily in server log files:

  • IP address
  • date and time of the request
  • requested page or file
  • referrer URL
  • browser type and version, operating system

This data is needed to deliver the website and to detect and defend against attacks. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. Log files are deleted after 30 days at the latest unless they are needed to investigate a specific security incident.

The connection to our website is encrypted with TLS (HTTPS).

4. Cookies, local storage and your privacy choice

Cookies and similar technologies (such as local storage) store information on your device. When you first visit, we ask which optional categories you allow. Nothing optional is loaded before you decide.

Your choice is saved in your browser's local storage under the key cfc_consent_v1 until you delete it or change your choice. You can change or withdraw your consent at any time with effect for the future on our cookie settings page or via the "Cookie settings" link in the footer of every page.

5. Google Consent Mode

We use Google Consent Mode (version 2). Before you make a choice, all Google signals for analytics and advertising storage are set to "denied". Google services only receive the consent status you selected and adjust their behavior accordingly. When consent is denied, Google tags do not set or read advertising or analytics cookies.

6. Google AdSense (advertising)

To finance our free content we use Google AdSense, a service of Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland ("Google"). AdSense displays ads on our pages. The AdSense script is only loaded after you consent to "Marketing & advertising".

With your consent, Google uses cookies and similar identifiers (for example __gads, __gpi, __eoi on our domain and IDE on doubleclick.net, typically stored for up to 13 months) to deliver ads, limit how often you see them, measure performance, prevent fraud and, if permitted, show ads based on your interests. In this process, data such as your IP address, browser information, the pages you visit and ad interactions is processed by Google and may be transferred to Google LLC in the USA. Google LLC is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, on the basis of which the European Commission has issued an adequacy decision (Art. 45 GDPR).

The legal basis is your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR, § 25(1) TDDDG). Further information: How Google uses cookies in advertising and Google Privacy Policy. You can manage ad personalization in your Google My Ad Center.

7. Statistics

We currently do not use any analytics service. Should we introduce one in the future, it will only be activated with your consent under the "Statistics" category and described here before it is used.

8. Embedded videos (external media)

Some articles may contain embedded YouTube videos (Google Ireland Limited). We use YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com). The video is only loaded after you click "Load video" or allow "External media". Loading the video transfers data, including your IP address, to Google and may set cookies. The legal basis is your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR, § 25(1) TDDDG).

9. Fonts

All fonts on this website are stored on our own server. No connection to external font services (such as Google Fonts) is made when you visit our pages.

10. Contact by email

If you email us, we process your email address and the content of your message to answer your request. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (our interest in responding to inquiries) or Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR if your request relates to a contract. We delete the data when it is no longer needed, usually after two years at the latest, unless statutory retention obligations apply.

11. RSS feed and search

Our RSS feed and the site search work without cookies. The search runs entirely in your browser: your search terms are not sent to or stored on our server, apart from the request URL appearing in the server log files described in section 3.

12. Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to:

  • access the personal data we hold about you (Art. 15 GDPR);
  • rectification of inaccurate data (Art. 16 GDPR);
  • erasure (Art. 17 GDPR) and restriction of processing (Art. 18 GDPR);
  • data portability (Art. 20 GDPR);
  • object to processing based on Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR on grounds relating to your particular situation (Art. 21 GDPR);
  • withdraw your consent at any time with effect for the future (Art. 7(3) GDPR), for example on our cookie settings page.

To exercise your rights, contact us at contact@carefreecredits.com. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority (Art. 77 GDPR). The authority responsible for us is the State Commissioner for Data Protection of Lower Saxony (Die Landesbeauftragte für den Datenschutz Niedersachsen), Prinzenstraße 5, 30159 Hannover, Germany.

13. Changes to this policy

We update this privacy policy when we change our website or the services we use, or when the law changes. The current version is always available on this page. The date of the last update is shown at the top.
